Bot Race 20XX
Bot Race 20XX is a phone-first way to watch an autonomous ocean bot race on a live 3D globe. The race opens on the Transpac course, from Point Fermin to Diamond Head, and it is already running.
It is for someone who wants to follow the fleet rather than operate a general map console.
Try this first: open the globe, then use Follow, Pace, and Leaderboard. Swipe the dock up, or tap Leaderboard, for classes, the event feed, and a boat's telemetry.
Under the hood
The globe is Cesium. With no optional keys, the basemap falls back to Esri and OpenStreetMap imagery, and ships in the race corridor are labeled simulated traffic. A Cesium ion token can load Cesium ion imagery. A Google Maps key can load photorealistic 3D tiles and place search.
A server-side AISStream key can replace those simulated ships with a short live AIS snapshot. If that feed fails, the app falls back to the simulated set and keeps the simulated label. Race bots, the clock, classes, and the 360° camera stay simulated either way.
Vercel serves the race traffic routes. The app runs with none of the optional keys set. Dark-vessel zones stay simulated; a token for a future dark-vessel feed is reserved on the server and is not a live feed.
